My name is Amanda; I am the founder of Women’s Wellness Circle NZ. I offers Yoga Classes and Private Sessions in Lymphatic Flow, Yin + Restore and Meditation. I offer Health and Wellness Mentoring and Organise and Facilitate Women’s Mini Retreats and Workshops “Nourish your Body and Mind”.

I’m also the owner of Mama Cloth Retail Online Shop; Sustainable Reusables offering something new to those who have been using reusable products for a while and encourage those who aren’t sure, to give them a go!

How you can Take Control of your Health and Wellbeing; by having the tools in place to care for all aspects of your Health and Wellbeing, being able to call on those tools, when needed in everyday life and times of unbalance and upheaval.   

Lets start by creating  a Personal Prescription, a Support System to work along side your GP and/or Specialists. A internal and External Support system. 

Internal Support System: is a support system that encompass your body and mind (holistically).

External Support System: is a support system that works along side you to develop the right outside care you need. (Doctors, Specialists, Practitioners, etc.)

“My Journey” | I was let down by the Public Health System in 2015 – after seeing 3 different doctors, being prescribed antibiotics, told it’s age, told it anxiety,  then told it is possible endometriosis, but that’s normal!!

Not 100% happy with the answers, especially as I was still  in incredible pain and yes I was concerned.  I asked my Doctor about having a scan, I felt this was the next option as the pain and irregular bleeding, did not feel normal. I also asked to have my IUD removed, I was due a Smear Test too. 

I was told by my Doctor that I didn’t reach the criteria to be referred, if I really wanted to, I should go private. 

I had the Smear Test and the Copper IUD taken out the following week; I was hoping this would possible fix the ongoing symptoms, it didn’t. 

My  Smear Test come back with cells that showed something was not right, that still wasn’t enough to be referred…

I was still suffering from terrible pain and inflammation, my anxiety levels through the roof, along with my blood pressure. I decided to take my health and wellbeing into my own hands. 

I booked in with a Gynecologist in Auckland; whom after seeing me, said that something was definitely not right. Unfortunately it was too far past the original symptoms to confirm exactly what. (most likely a burst cyst…or something, I will never know).

As she tutted away down there, my legs spread open on the examination table feet in stirrups, it was a first for me! and YES I did the old tidy before I went!! Straight out of an American sitcom!!  I was extremely stressed by this point and feeling very overwhelmed, my mind spiraling to what could be the problem.

She recommended a Vaginal Ultrasound Scan and Blood tests; the Scan was an experience and a half, I was all types of awkward with random jokes. I The internal Scan reviled two more cysts on my Ovary, an inconveniently placed Polyp and a Thickened Uterine Wall.

The Gyno was not happy with my Blood Test, they showed  higher levels of HCG and CA125 tumor markers among other things. (Doctor google did not help at all at this point!!!!) 

The Gyno took another Smear after the first, to see if any changes had happened. Thankfully the Smear was clear this time. 

I continue to see the Gyno for evaluations on my Cysts and Bloods for the next two years, my hormones all over the place.  We decided on a wait and see method, of the unusual looking Cysts; the Gyno did not want to remove them as they had been small at the time under 3cm and Possible Endometriomas but she could not confirm this. 

I kept my regular 3 month, then 6 month checkups with the Gyno then yearly check ups. The Cysts did carry on growing before becoming stable.  

AND….

In 2017 the second one burst in Yoga Class… YEP that felt like the first!

It took me Two years to get the pain and inflammation under control through Diet, Weight Training, Yoga, Tai Chi, Meditation and Acupuncture. 

My last smear in 2020 was clear; although the Nurse at my GP’s practice found another inconveniently place polyp THIS TIME I WAS REFERRED!! Lucky as they needed to do another biopsy on my womb, that was also clear and my Cyst had decreased in size considerably to nearly non existent.

I am booked in for a Hysteroscopic Examination for an Endometrial Fold this year.

This is ongoing but I know now how to ask, how to feel respected and listened to.

What can you do to help manage your coping levels. 

Ask your doctor to explain each step to you and when you can expect results. Phone the Doctor if you have any concerns. Write down your concerns to Ask at your next appointment.  Ask the Doctor to email the Information so you are able to absorb all that was said.

Make a Plan. Create your Own Personal Prescription.  

Waiting can feel lonely even with support, creating a ritual for yourself  during this time can help take your mind of the waiting.

Working with Breath during this time will benefit you and your wellbeing.

Finding peace and release through Meditation and Prayer.

Eat well | Exercise | Meditate | Sleep | Keep a Journal | Create a Personal Prescription | Treat yourself like a VIP because you ARE!
